Paul Diamond (CEO) and Richard Smith (CPO) posed this question to Matt Eskew in fall 2019. Matt has spent the past 15+ years of his professional career fully immersed in analytics and digital marketing. His roles range from managing performance-based marketing campaigns for Fortune 500 companies to managing multi-million dollar budgets for digital retailers and most recently running a lead generation business in the financial services sector. So when Matt approached DRMC in late summer 2019, he was looking for an opportunity to create a digital channel that optimizes the borrower experience from first click to post-close.
Matt’s approach to digital marketing has always been very practical. He seized the opportunity to create a digital channel at DRMC by obtaining a full license as a mortgage loan issuer. After personally testing the beta of the main program and optimizing it for over two years while successfully closing nearly 100 loans, the main program exits the beta testing phase and is offered to DRMC agencies. Matt has been promoted to Director of Digital Strategy and will continue to manage the DRMC’s Online Leadership Program.
The main program is built around the strengths of the DRMC. We value the strong relationships our loan officers have established in their local communities and the financial expertise they provide to their referral partners and borrowers. The objective of the program is to strengthen the position of loan officers in the market. We see a hyper aggressive market competing for online business. This has resulted in an impersonal pricing-driven approach, with businesses compromising on quality, relying too heavily on automation and unqualified customer service call centers. We believe this doesn’t translate into the best customer service and financial advice for borrowers and is a zero-sum game DRMC doesn’t want to play.
Instead, DRMC markets niche programs and focuses on solution-based digital marketing. We use targeted digital marketing methods to reach users looking for specific products and / or solutions and connect them directly to a fully licensed local loan officer.
