Art Heals – The Suffolk News-Herald
For the publisher:
I am writing in response to the article titled âFinding a Cure Through Art,â published in your journal on October 20.
I really enjoyed this article. I grew up right next to the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts and visited several times when I was younger. Art has always been a passion of mine, and I believe it can have a big impact on people’s mental health. I think it’s a wonderful idea to create this exhibit because not only does art allow anyone who wants to submit to express what healing means to them, it also brings people together. It reminds them that they are not alone.
I think as we move forward as a society our mental health decreases simultaneously, so having an artistic resource that allows people to recognize the importance of our mental health is so crucial. In the age of social media, it’s very nice to see this form of “healing” compared to an app that’s supposed to help you. People tend not to realize how much our phones can isolate us from each other, so seeing the self-help that you can do in person in your spare time is so much more beneficial than what you can accomplish with your own. telephone. I really hope people enjoy this wonderful exhibition.
