Congressman Issa Announces 2022 Congressional Art Contest
Do you have art?
Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-50) is accepting submissions for the 2022 Congressional Art Contest, a competition for high school students in their 50sand Congressional District to present their artistic creations for display in the Capitol building.
“I am always amazed by the breadth of imagination and breadth of artistic expression of young artists in our community. This is their opportunity to present their best and allow us to ensure that it is presented at the Maison du Peuple,” said Issa.
The winning selection will be exhibited for a year in the United States Capitol alongside artwork by students from across the country. The second-place winning piece will be on display in Congressman Issa’s office during the same period.
Entries entered in the contest may measure up to 26 inches by 26 inches, up to 4 inches deep, and may not weigh more than 15 pounds. If your artwork is selected as the winning artwork, it must be framed by the entrant. Types of artwork include:
- Paintings – including oil, acrylic and watercolour.
- Drawings – including pastels, colored pencils, pencils, charcoal, ink and markers (Charcoal and pastel drawings are recommended to be fixed.)
- Collages – must be two-dimensional.
- Prints – including lithographs, serigraphy and prints.
- Mixed media – use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
- Computer generated art.
In addition to having their art hang in the United States Capitol for a year, the first place winner will also receive an invitation to attend a reception with other winners in Washington, DC during the summer months.
