Gala Art Auction Fundraiser for Belfast Maskers Theater

BELFAST – The public is invited to an evening of live music, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and art auctions at the Basil Burwell Community Theatre, 17 Court St. on Saturday, June 4. The Gala Art Auction fundraiser will feature works by Gary Hinte (born 1933, died 2021) and other local Maine artists. Hinte was an important contributor to the Belfast Maskers community. He designed and painted sets and sets for several plays, including “The Addams Family Musical”, “Annie”, and “The Music Man”.

“The Maskers have benefited greatly from Gary’s support and his vast creative output,” said Sasha Kutsy, Chair of The Maskers Board of Directors. “He dreamed of rear projection sets and created and used them for many Maskers productions.” Parts of these stage sets and some of his individual pieces will be auctioned off.

Other prominent local Maine artists who have donated pieces to be auctioned include David Estey, Stew Henderson, Mark Kelly, Susan Tobey White, Jerri Finch, Neil Parent and many more.

The silent art auction with music and refreshments will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the live auction at 7:00 p.m. Famous auctioneer (Maskers board member and Mayor of Belfast) Eric Sanders will run the auction. A cocktail outfit is suggested for even more fun!

The work can be seen in preview on Friday June 3 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. without any reservation.

Tickets are $10 per person and are available at belfastmaskers.com/event/gala/; RSVP by June 1.
