Google Photos tests Walmart / CVS photo prints and large canvas prints

Google Photos is one of Google’s best online services because it offers unlimited free photo backup and a ton of useful features to help organize photos into albums. Recently, Google rolled out the ability to search for your photos by text, and they’re also testing a Photo Frames feature to display selected albums on local Chromecasts or smart screens. Earlier today, we received an update to version 4.24 of the Photos app, and we managed to activate a new feature that will allow you to purchase photo prints from Walmart or CVS or large prints from canvas to hang on your walls.

An APK teardown can often predict features that might arrive in a future update of an app, but it’s possible that one of the features we mention here may not in a future release. Indeed, these features are currently not implemented in the live version and can be checked out at any time by the developers in a future version.

During Google I / O 2017, Google updated the Photos app to allow users to print softcover (7 ″ x 7 ″) or hardcover (9 ″ x 9 ″) photo books from from $ 9.99. A minimum of 20 photos and a maximum of 100 photos are required to create a photo book. Now, more than two years later, Google is preparing to add more printing options to Google Photos. Once the feature is launched, the “Photo Books” option in the sidebar will update to read “Printing House” with the description “Photo Books, Prints and Canvases”.

Same Day Photo Prints at Walmart and CVS

Selecting the “photo prints” option reveals that you will be able to print 4 “x 6” matte prints for $ 0.25 each and pick them up the same day at a local Walmart or CVS. Before ordering, you can change the pickup contact in case you want to send a family member or friend to pick up the photos. Currently it looks like you have to pay at the store. Pickup time depends on the store, and Google Photos will let you know that you need to call the store to determine when prints are ready. However, the app will show you at least an estimated time period for when prints are ready.

Canvas prints

If you have a photo that you are particularly proud of (so proud, in fact, that you want to hang it on the wall), then you’ll be happy to hear that Google Photos is adding an option for canvas prints. You can order an 8 ″ x 8 ″ print for $ 19.99, an 11 ″ x 14 ″ print for $ 29.99, or a 16 ″ x 20 ″ print for $ 44.99, plus shipping. (The depth for each canvas print size is 1.5in.) The app allows you to preview the canvas, rotate the canvas, and change the packaging before checking.

These features are not yet available in the Google Photos 4.24 app, but since the feature appears to be complete, it will likely launch soon. We will notify you when this happens.
