New trailer and two new posters revealed for Nia DaCosta’s CANDYMAN

A second trailer and two new posters have been revealed for Nia DeCosta’s reimagining of horror favorite, CANDYMAN.

As far back as residents can remember, housing projects in Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood have been terrorized by a word of mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those who dared to repeat his name five times in a mirror. Nowadays, a decade after the destruction of the last of the Cabrini Towers, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; HBO’s Watchmen, Us) and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris; Si Beale Street Could Talk, The Photograph), move into a luxury loft in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.

With Anthony’s painting career on the verge of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green alumnus (Colman Domingo; Euphoria, HBO’s Assassination Nation) exposes Anthony to the tragically gruesome nature of the real story behind Candyman. Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio like cool water for paintings, unknowingly opening the door to a complex past that unraveled his own reason. and unleashes a terrifying wave of viral violence that puts him on a collision course with fate.
