Vaccine visual art, video competition set

San Joaquin County Public Health Services is inviting local young artists to shine by entering #SJVaxForTheWin by the Friday November 5, 2021 deadline. Open only to San Joaquin County youth, this art competition appeals to every group of creating visual art (5-11) and video art (12-18) that tag #SJVaxForTheWin on social media. All artistic and video contributions will answer the question: As more people get vaccinated against COVID-19, what are you most excited to do?

The project is supported by Kaiser Permanente Northern California Community Benefit Programs and the Community Foundation of San Joaquin. The contest offers prizes including Nintendo Switch game consoles, a MacBook Air with Final Cut Pro software, iPads, Amazon gift cards ranging from $ 50 to $ 250, and more. The contest will feature a total of $ 20,000 in prizes.

For the visual art competition, open to young people aged 5 to 11, art must be submitted on a single sheet of 8.5×11 paper. Examples of visual art that will be accepted include drawings, photos, collages, stories, paintings and other forms expressed on flat surfaces. For the Video Art Competition, open to those aged 12-18, art must be submitted in the form of a video of at least 15 seconds and no longer than one minute. Examples of video art that will be accepted include real, virtual, machinima, interactive, poetry, music, graphics, short video films, storytelling, and other forms of video art.
